How is your money spent?

The funds raised by the Walking for the Breast Reason team is donated to the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. The donations made to each walk that we have participated in since 2006 has provided funds for research, care and education in the host provinces. Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, for example, utilizes funds from the Toronto Weekend to END BREAST CANCER to carry out breakthrough initiatives that directly benefit patients and their families.

Already, incredible strides have been made thanks to The Weekend. Progress like the establishment of the Campbell Family Institute for Breast Cancer Research, the enhancement of treatment programs, and the opening of the world-class Survivorship Centre are all examples of the real impact made. There is still much more to be accomplished.

In 2007, we read this story about how researchers in Edmonton made a promising breakthrough for women dying from breast cancer with money raised from the Weekend to End Breast Cancer.

While we were fundraising for the 2007 walks we received an email from the CEO of Alberta Cancer Foundation updating us on the impact the Weekend was having and how it had funded numerous advancements in breast cancer research. Read how Alberta uses the money raised.
